Very excited to see Tori Amos this month at the Moody Theater! I am a long (long, long) time fan, but have only ever gotten to see her once, back in 2009. I was thrilled when a tour was announced in support of her newest album, In Times of Dragons. Released at the start of May, ITOD tells the story of a woman escaping her cruel Lizard Demon husband to return to the woman she wants to be, and the (re)connections she makes with those she had lost through the years due to that relationship. It is a beautiful, devastating album, with my personal favourite tracks being Song of Sorrow, Strawberry Moon, and the closer, 23 Peaks (I cried). Set-lists were posted on Tori’s official Instagram (@toriamos) after the European shows, which have added to the excitement and anticipation for my own turn to see her again. Not only is she playing a blend of her newer and older catalogue, but she will be playing with a band and back-up vocalists. I am beyond excited to experience these songs that mean so much to me in a new, yet familiar, way, and so thankful for the opportunity to see Tori perform again. She was a marvel when I saw her almost 20 years ago, and everything I have seen so far promises another beautiful experience.
