The Mohawk could barely contain all the musical creativeness that exuded from the immensely talented Kishi Bashi as they celebrated the 10th anniversary of Kishi’s third album Sonderlust. Each member shined throughout the night, and it was inspiring as the songs took us on a journey that were at times heavy and at times light and joyful. Each song was a surprise, with some songs very stripped down, with Kishi playing pizzicato on the violin, delayed, and looped to create the backbone of the song before going into the song –and at other times songs were very large with layers of sound that just immersed into a world of imagination. This tour marked the premier of the Honeybody mascot much to the chagrin of Mr. Steak. For the encore, the band unplugged and went into the middle of the crowd and played a touching set of three songs.
