On May 31, 2025, metalcore outfit The Word Alive brought the energy to Come and Take It Live in Austin, TX, kicking off at 6 PM with their signature blend of melodic aggression. Their stage presence was palpable as they barreled through a career-spanning set list that included fan favorites like “Hate Me,” “Glass Castle,” and the anthemic “One of Us.” Each track was greeted with thunderous cheers and pit formation from an engaged and growing crowd.
Vocalist Tyler Smith’s powerhouse delivery anchored the performance, alternating effortlessly between growls, screams, and soaring choruses. The taut interplay between the band members—teammate Jose DelRio’s galloping riffs, Logan Abernethy’s leads, and Devin Attard’s pounding rhythms—created a sonic wall that filled the venue from corner to corner. Newer material like “Nocturnal Future” and “New Reality” blended seamlessly with classic hits, showcasing the band’s evolution without losing its ferocity.
The Word Alive’s electric performance reaffirmed their reputation as a must-see live act in the metalcore scene. As the final notes of “Life Cycles” echoed through the venue, the crowd was visibly charged—reflecting the band’s unrelenting intensity and technical prowess.
