On June 14, 2025, progressive death metal powerhouse Rivers of Nihil took over Come And Take It Live in Austin, TX, as part of their “Aggressive Progressive Tour.” From the moment they launched into “The Sub‑Orbital Blues,” the band commanded the crowd with a crushing combination of technical precision and artistic ambition.
The setlist —pulled directly from their acclaimed self‑titled album released just weeks earlier —was a journey through the band’s evolving sound. Highlights included the haunting atmosphere of “The Silent Life,” the blistering rhythms of “American Death,” and the emotionally resonant ender “Where Owls Know My Name.” The encore closer “Clean” showcased their cathartic side, leaving the audience both mentally and physically spent but deeply satisfied.
The raw energy of Come And Take It Live provided the perfect setting for their performance. As guitarist Brody Uttley and bassist‑vocalist Adam Biggs led the charge, drummer Jared Klein and guitarist Andy Thomas wove intricate layers of sound that echoed across the venue. With a blend of brutality and melody, Rivers of Nihil proved why they’re among the most forward-thinking acts in modern metal.
