On April 19, 2025, Mac Sabbath brought their unique blend of parody and heavy metal to Mohawk Austin, delivering a performance that was as theatrical as it was musically impressive. Celebrating their 10th anniversary, the self-proclaimed purveyors of “Drive-Thru Metal” transformed the venue into a surreal fast-food-themed rock spectacle. Frontman Ronald Osborne, clad in his signature clown attire, led the charge with a setlist that included fan favorites like “Pair-a-Buns”, “Frying Pan”, and the debut of “Fries Above”, a new addition that delighted the crowd.
The band’s lineup—featuring Slayer MacCheeze on guitar, Grimalice on bass, and the Cat Burglar on drums—delivered tight renditions of their satirical takes on Black Sabbath classics. The performance was enhanced by elaborate stage props, including a smoking grill and laser-eyed clowns, creating a visual feast that matched the band’s quirky aesthetic. The audience, a mix of metal enthusiasts and curious newcomers, responded with enthusiasm, embracing the band’s offbeat humor and high-energy delivery.
Mac Sabbath’s show at Mohawk Austin was more than just a concert; it was an immersive experience that combined music, comedy, and performance art. Their ability to parody iconic songs while delivering them with genuine musical prowess underscores their appeal. As they continue their anniversary tour, Mac Sabbath proves that they are not only a novelty act but also a band with staying power in the rock and metal scene.
