Tegan and Sara embarked on the tenth anniversary of their fifth album “The Con”, stopping for two sold out nights at the Paramount.  While the venue was atypical for bands, it was the perfect setting for a stripped down acoustic set in which they played the entire album from start to finish with several others songs off other albums afterwards.  The twins performed with no drummer, just the duo with a keyboard player and another guitarist.  While certainly nostalgic as expected of a tour ten years in the making, the emotion in the room ranged from somber and cathartic as they shared in the sadness of their songs to jovial as they joked between sets.

If you were lucky enough to get to go to both shows in Austin, you got a unique show on the second night as Tegan lost her voice due to sickness.  While most bands would have cancelled the show, they turned the unfortunate event into a special and memorable ending of the tour by printing out 1200 lyrics sheets so the audience and Sara could help cover Tegan’s parts.

Whether acoustic or with a full band, Tegan and Sara understand the connection between artist and audience in every aspect.  Until the next tour, grab a copy of their newest album “The Con X” which consists of other artists covering the Con!
