New Beat Fund is one of those bands that are hard to categorize. As soon as you think you’ve got their sound labeled, you listen to another song and their sound changes. They ranged from fun beach/wave rock to a jam/funk sound with Anthony Kiedis tinged vocals. Seeing them play a semi acoustic live set really cemented their talent as musicians. Sonically, I would never have known the drummer was playing on a minimal set with bass, snare, hi hat, and ride cymbal with out any tom toms for their acoustic set. New Beat Fund are on the Music Felon’s Top 40 artists of SXSW 2015 and definitely worth catching again.
