Alvvays are a Canadian band that are no stranger to Austin; they’ve opened Stubb’s for Chvrches, played a huge festival stage during Fun Fun Fun Fest, and felt right at home at the sold out packed Mohawk show. While the band is labeled dream pop with Molly’s light wavvy vocals that are superbly comforting like a southern home cooked meal, they are very unique in the genre in that they are a perfect amalgamation of shoe gaze vocals backed by poppy/upbeat drums/guitar strums that encourage you wake up and dance. They played mostly new songs in the first half of the show, finishing with crowd favorites off of the first album, they know what their fans like and continue the trend with their newly dropped album.
